Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Manager of Rehabilitation Services, the Occupational Therapist provides comprehensive assessments of referred patients and develops client-centred treatment programs. Treatment programs include but are not limited to; providing appropriate aids/adaptations; providing the necessary equipment to ensure appropriate seating; providing the necessary equipment to maintain skin integrity and health; providing the appropriate cognitive stimulation and providing appropriate A.D.L. training. The Occupational Therapist has a commitment to maintain the standards of practice of the College of Occupational Therapists. The Occupational Therapist will strive to provide patients with the highest quality of care in a safe, ethical manner. The Occupational Therapist has an obligation to practice within their professional scope of practice. The Occupational Therapist participates in discipline specific and interdisciplinary activities that are directed towards a patient-centred environment.
Occupational Therapists are expected to transfer between sites as required
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- Masters or Baccalaureate degree from a recognized school of Occupational Therapy
- Current Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
- Two years’ (2) experience as an Occupational Therapist in a hospital setting preferred
- Current BCLS Certification and maintained through employment
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to prepare reports, interpret results in a manner that is clear and understandable and provide training and direction
- Excellent computer skills
- Good attendance and availability required
