Description

SUMMARY OF JOB:

 

Under the general direction of the Radiologists and the Manager and the coordination of the Charge Technologist, the Sonographer performs diagnostic imaging using ultrasound. The technologist must be capable of performing technical procedures independently, using initiative and judgement and be able to assume responsibility for designated areas or special procedures as required.

 

Requirements:

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Credentialed with Sonography Canada
  • Current registration in good standing with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography ( ARDMS) and CMRITO
  • Core competencies in general, obstetrical, vascular (carotids), MSK (shoulders) and breasts ultrasound procedures required
  • Experience in echocardiography would be an asset

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Must show evidence of clinical competence through continuing education
  • Demonstrated excellence in delivering patient care
  • Demonstrated excellence in spoken and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated  ability to relate in a tactful and sensitive manner with staff,  physicians, patients and the general public
  • Availability to work a variety of day, evening and/or weekend shifts and to take standby calls
  • Positive, outgoing attitude and ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
  • Good attendance and availability required
