Description

    

The Social Worker is as a member of a multidisciplinary team providing inclusive services to adults and youth who have been affected by sexual assault/abuse and or domestic violence. The Social Worker provides trauma informed counselling and support.  The Social Worker also facilitates therapeutic groups, provides educational presentations and will participate in community development initiatives undertaken by ARCC.

 

Participates in service and hospital-wide activities and programs that model and promote a safe and healthy client-centered environment and that contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives.

 

FEMALE – relying on provisions of Section 24 (1) (b) of the Ontario Human Rights Code in setting the restriction.

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Master of Social Work or equivalent
  • Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
  • 3-5 years’ experience working with victims of sexual and domestic violence
  • 3-5 years of clinical practice
  • Knowledge of an adherence to feminist theory of violence
  • Advanced training in trauma assessment and counselling
  • Knowledge of legal system as it pertains to sexual assault and domestic violence an

 

Knowledge Skill and Abilities:

 

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to network with community partners
  • Strong written and communication skills
  • Good computer skills and ability to provide virtual care
  • Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle
  • Good attendance and availability required
